Historic Palette Gives New Old Life to 1800s Rowhouse
Although the new owners of this Northwest Washington D.C. rowhouse were certain the yellow had to go, they were torn about what color to paint the exterior of their circa 1830 home. The idea of a period palette, such as a brick red, was attractive but they were also fond of other colors they'd seen in the neighborhood -- grays, bright white, pale cream and mushroom. To further complicate matters, a pending decision on black or white window replacements would need to be coordinated with the new paint selection.
