Native Plantings in a Rockville Rainscape
Old House Loves' environmentally friendly design gave these Rockville homeowners a beautiful, deer-resistant and low-maintenance native garden they could enjoy from multiple vantage points--the screened porch above and the yard below. Important features that contribute to its success are:
• Shaded and visually screened parking pad adjacent to the garden
• Peaceful seating area and well-drained access to the backyard
• Reduced grass area
• Access to the new rain barrel, which has been camouflaged with plantings
Old House Loves designed the landscape, sourced plantings, and supervised installation for this project, insuring that it met all requirements for an environmental program providing financial incentives for homeowners to collect rainwater and replace water-intensive turf grass with native plants.
